Stronger than you need to be
It’s about being stronger than you need to be. It’s why I run. Why I exercise. Why I wake up early enough to lace up my sneakers, put on my gloves, and log miles.
Amid the noise, stress, and pressure, it’s about being stronger than all of it — stronger than you need to be.
Fight fatigue, fight stress.

Hobby?
If I had a larger disposable income I would:
1. Continue ballroom dance classes.
2. Practice hot yoga.
So much of my time is spent crossing things off of my to-do list and I really get antsy sitting reading all day. Activities that get me moving sound perfect.
What is a hobby you would try if you had all the time and money in the world?

Nutella Cookies and not a lot of studying →
These are the best sugar cookies I have ever had, made, or eaten. Simply the best. The almond extract is necessary and exponentially delicious. However, these cookies are not currently in my oven. The Nutella Chocolate Chip Cookies are! Yum. Will let you know how they turn out.

Date a girl who reads. →
literarycollective:
An article by Rosemarie Urquico: Date a girl who reads. Date a girl who spends her money on books instead of clothes. She has problems with closet space because she has too many books. Date a girl who has a list of books she wants to read, who has had a library card since she was twelve. Find a girl who reads. You’ll know that she does because she will always have an...

I worked with Americorps for two and a half years in inner-city preschools/Headstarts. It was one of the best things I have ever done in my life and should not be on the political chopping block.
Save the funding for this program so Americans can work to save America.

reverse seasonal depression
joliebelle:
YES YES AND YES!
adamichael:
I believe I have reverse seasonal depression. The summer is always blah for me. I hate the heat - ask anyone that I have shared a room with. I get heat flashes at 75 degrees, I can’t wear long sleeved shirts and a have perpetual back sweat. Too much? Well it’s true. And that’s why I love the fall.

Cold Tangerines.
There are things that happen to us, and when they happen, they give us two options. Either way, we will never be the same and we shouldn’t. These things can either strip us down to the bone and allow us to become strong and honest, or they can be reasons we use to behave poorly indefinitely, the justification for all manner of broken relationships and broken ideals. It could be the thing...

Summer Reading
I need summer reading recommendations. I have two trips coming up and desperately need quality summer reading material. Any suggestions?
Each school year is like hitting the reset button in your life. I wish I had more to look forward to for my Senior year; with no expectations maybe I will be pleasantly surprised.
For the fourth I had to work (and therefore miss my family’s cookout) but on my way home I got caught in the Fairlawn’s parade which I thought was pretty patriotic of me.
Soon I will be meeting my mom for the fireworks. All in all, not a bad fourth.
high highs, low lows
Now that it is the second day of July I think it is an appropriate time for a little midsummer reflection. Lately, I have been feeling incandescently happy and free with a world of possibilities opening up ahead of me, but these moments are typically tempered by real, scary feelings of failure, loneliness, and apathy. When I look back at my life the most meaningful seasons are neither purely good...

Today, I was at Target buying Band Aids because I have the first of many summer scrapes, and a little 2 year-old in a cart ahead of me started saying, “I don’t like Band-Aids. Why does she have Band-Aids? I don’t want them. Why is Dora on the Band-Aids?”
Which brings me to the point, at 21 I bought Dora the Explorer Band-Aids to replace my Hello Kitty ones. I think my...
If my life had a soundtrack this would be on repeat with many reprises:
